Our joint networking night with AustCham called the “Santa Fe Wine & Cheese Nite” which was co-sponsored by Westpac saw a few hundred people pack into the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Grand Ballroom. Business cards were rapidly changing hands as many of our members juggled this with enjoying unlimited tasting of Australian wine soaked up with food tasting of various Australian food products and glorious cheese. Thanks to Sante Fe and Bill Cain, a CanCham member, for sponsoring this terrific event. March 27

APRIL 2004April 16 Members of CanCham joined in with AmCham for their ever-popular “IT/Telecoms Industry Networking Night”. April 29 CanCham members also enjoyed another busy joint “ Sky High Super Network Night” with Britcham and other Chamber members, on the top floor of the Tower Club which offers the highest stunning panoramic views of Singapore .

Officially May 8 CanCham (or the CSBA as it was known in its earlier days), turned 21 years old. On May 14 Manulife Financial formally celebrated by sponsoring a lunch for CanCham's 21st Anniversary at the Regent Hotel. Our Guest Speaker Mr. Philip Hampden-Smith, President and CEO of Manulife Financial entertained and enlightened us on the fascinating topic of "Managing Through a Crisis, Manulife Indonesia , An Amazing Story". Mr. Claude Morin gave a brief history of the chamber and the outlook for our future growth while recognizing many people present ssociated with the Chamber's success in the past. This was the chamber's biggest lunch of the year with nearly 80 people attending. Air Canada sponsored a fund raising auction with two tickets round trip HK-Vancouver, Jerry Chee was the highest bidder. The Regent Hotel donated a delicious cake while the Canadian High Commission supplied Inniskillen wine for the event and the unique Singapore-Canada lapel pins. May 28 On this clear and sunny day, 108 keen golfers and 11 volunteers gathered for the "Nortel Networks Canadian Iceberg Charity Golf Challenge" at Sentosa Golf Club. The Hole in One prize was sponsored by Chevrolet During the awards dinner, with over 126 for dinner, the Guest of Honour Acting Canadian High Commissioner Mr. Daniel Mysak, awarded the High Commissioners Cup for best individual team to Rajan Raju, Vikram Malhotra, Ravi Raju and Anuj Khanna. W hile Patrick Sim, Managing Director of Nortel Singapore awarded the Nortel Networks Silver Corporate Cup to the best Corporate team comprising of Dan Brostrom, Thomas Enslow, Sami Chabouni and Rikard Hogberg. Bank of Nova Scotia East Asia and CSL Asia each sponsored a hole while MC Sacha Seneque handed out the latest in drivers and putters as prizes. Other significant sponsors were Air Canada, Bvgari, General Motors, Brewerkz Beer, Polar Distilled water, Johnnie Walker, Oregon Scientific, Four Seasons Hotel, Raffles the Plaza, O2 XDA II Online, Orientalist and Vincor – Jackson Triggs Wine. Radiance Communications supplied hats to all and Manulife Financial the umbrellas . Exactly $9,000 in charity funds was raised for the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund . |
