MARCH 2004

March 19

Our joint networking night with AustCham called the “Santa Fe Wine & Cheese Nite” which was co-sponsored by Westpac saw a few hundred people pack into the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Grand Ballroom. Business cards were rapidly changing hands as many of our members juggled this with enjoying unlimited tasting of Australian wine soaked up with food tasting of various Australian food products and glorious cheese. Thanks to Sante Fe and Bill Cain, a CanCham member, for sponsoring this terrific event.

March 27

"Polo Anyone?!" Networking Night & Polo Match with guest speaker Rickard Hogberg ace player and Honourary Secretary of the Singapore Polo Club.
The heavens withheld the rain while some very fine polo was viewed by over 100 people so far CanCham’s biggest event of the year. Rickard enlightened us that the “King of sports is still played by Kings” but we all felt like Royalty when asked to descend upon the field and replace the divots just as the Queen does! The tent-pegging exhibition with flaming coconuts was a wonderful treat to end a fascinating evening. The wooden polo pony saw enough action to raise $140 for the Singapore Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund. Thanks for the support of this charity effort. The Vincor- Inniskillen wine lucky draw was won by Dr. Batia Horsky. Don’t miss this event next year!
