JANUARY 2007

18th January

The Interport Executive Movers' Inter-Chamber and Association Annual Bowling Challenge 2007, after a one year hiatus, was a 'striking' hit with all attendees. With teams and players from all the Canadian pillars - the Canadian Association Singapore, the Canadian International School, the Canadian Alumni,  as well as the High Commission (in the form of High Commissioner, Alan Virtue), the event had a decidedly Canadian air about it! Nevertheless, other teams from Manulife, Ipac and sponsors Interport, were made to feel thoroughly welcome and, although there was some friendly competition, cheers were heard from all teams whenever someone landed a strike. After several tough qualifying rounds the 4 teams vying for the prestigious trophy took to the lanes. As with the previous rounds the final was unnervingly close but in the end the winner was our very own CanCham team, President's Choice! Many thanks go out to Interport for sponsoring the challenge and to Brewerkz for providing the ever-popular beer. Look out for next year's event which will be even bigger and better!

On your marks, get set...SPEED NETWORK! CanCham’s maiden speed networking event was a fun-filled, energetic and effective session . Set in the striking and spacious setting of Originals , a furniture shop that imports wonderful pieces of furniture from India, Vietnam and other Asian countries, 20 strangers soon found they had each met 19 new contacts. The attendance was very diverse, ranging from the owner of Originals to an options trader to a public relations specialist. With the setup something akin to speed dating, the pace was fast and furious and the atmosphere was truly buzzing with excitement. Once the speed networking session was over, attendees made their way downstairs to The Turquoise Room , a lovely restaurant that exudes a certain rustic charm, for delicious food and wine. Watch out for our next session!
