CanCham Members are invited to join a networking event hosted by U of T Alumni Club of Singapore, featuring special guest, Professor Yu-Ling Cheng. Enjoy an evening of networking over light refreshments and snacks! Professor Yu-Ling Cheng is the Director of the Centre for Global Engineering, Distinguished Professor in Global Engineering, and Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry in the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering at the University of Toronto. Professor Cheng will talk about how the Centre for Global Engineering is developing a practical and sustainable toilet for developing countries with strong support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Briefing on National Wages Council (NWC) Guidelines for 2016 / 2017 & Tripartite Guidelines on Re-employment of Older Employees & Managing Excess Manpower and Responsible Retrenchment. Following from the NWC’s announcement, a special briefing on the NWC Guidelines for 2016/2017 will be organized for members of Trade Associations and Chambers (TACs). This year’s NWC recommendations emphasize on restructuring and productivity efforts amidst economic uncertainty. A copy of the NWC Guidelines will be distributed at the briefing. All Members are urged to attend this important briefing. Time: 3 – 5pm (Registration starts at 2.30pm). Venue: Orchard Hotel, Grand Ballroom, Level 3 (442 Orchard Road, Singapore 238879). Canadian Alumni Singapore's Annual Singapore-Canada Learning Exchange 2016. Keynote Speaker: University of Waterloo Emeritus Professor John Cherry, Associate Director, The G360 Centre for Applied Groundwater Research, University of Guelph. Keynote address: The Role of Groundwater in the Global Water Crisis. Professor Cherry will visit Singapore during the Singapore International Water Week to receive the Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize 2016, for his contributions to the advancement of groundwater science, policies and technologies. Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards 2016 open for nominations

The Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards (ASRA) for 2016, the highest honour for sustainability reporting excellence in Asia, is now open for entries.

ASRA, with a strong focus on research, recognition and ratings, cover 15 categories including Asia’s Best Sustainability Report, Best Integrated Report, Best Sustainability Report (SME), Best First Time Sustainability Report, Best Online Sustainability Report and Best CSR Report within Annual Report. Other award categories include specialised areas of reporting, such as environment, carbon disclosure, stakeholder engagement, supply chain sustainability, corporate communication and community commitment. The best overall submission will be named Asia’s Sustainability Report of the Year award.

The Awards are open to all types and sizes of private, public and non-profit organisations in all sectors who report on sustainability for their operations and business in Asia.
