In a big step ahead, the bi-national Canadian Chambers of Commerce in the Indo-Pacific have convened for their first-ever face-to-face dialogue, signaling  a great opportunity for teamwork, strategic collaboration and expanded business opportunities!

 

Led by Sara Wilshaw, Canada’s Chief Trade Commissioner, and Paul Thoppil, Canada's Indo Pacific Trade Representative Global Affairs Canada, this meeting highlights a collective effort to strengthen cross-border trade and investment relationships.

 

The event, launched with a special virtual appearance by Mary Ng, Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development, highlights Canada's commitment to deepen engagement across the Indo-Pacific. Minister Ng emphasized Canada’s dedication to fostering strong, sustainable, and inclusive growth, creating good jobs and opportunities for businesses on both sides of the Pacific.

 

Minister Ng reiterated the significance of supporting Canada’s economic growth by identifying opportunities for Canadian businesses in sectors such as clean technology, critical minerals, and agricultural exports.

 

As Canada implements its Indo-Pacific Strategy, this meeting serves as a platform to reinforce priorities including resilient supply chains, sustainable economies, and innovative solutions for the future.

 

Attended by almost 20 Chambers from the region including Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, China & Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Macao, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and Singapore, this collaborative initiative showcases Canadian Chambers' unwavering commitment to facilitating market access and business expansion opportunities in the Indo-Pacific.
