CanCham AGM 2018 & NAFTA Panel Discussion

CanCham Singapore hosted its 34th Annual General Meeting followed by a NAFTA panel discussion, at Adrift by David Myers. It was wonderful to see so many CanCham members in attendance for our AGM! CanCham President, Rohan Belliappa, presented the 2017-2018 Annual Report and Executive Director, Chelsea Guy presented the finance report on behalf of CanCham Treasurer, Mark Levia. We welcomed incoming Vice-President, David Wynne, CEO, Green Technology Asia and we acknowledged Evelyn Wong, CanCham CSR Lead for her 12 years of service to CanCham, as sadly, she will be stepping down from our ExCo this year.

The sold out NAFTA panel discussion luncheon kicked off with welcome remarks by H.E. Lynn McDonald, High Commissioner of Canada to Singapore. This was followed by moderator, Rob Simmons, Managing Director, Southeast Asia and Oceania, Government of Alberta, opening the panel discussion and Malcolm Cook, Senior Fellow, ISEAS-Yusof Ishak Institute of Singapore, spoke about NAFTA and how it paved the way for many other free trade agreements to follow. He stole the show with his Back to the Future and “orange haired man” references! Jennifer Reynolds, President and CEO, Toronto Financial Services Alliance, joined us all the way from Canada, giving use her perspective on how NAFTA will affect the Canadian financial services. Finally, Rohan Belliappa, Chief Representative, CN, spoke about NAFTA and how it affects the flow of goods in North America.

We would like to thank all of our guests for supporting this event and our event sponsor Scotiabank for not only supporting this event but many other CanCham events throughout the year!
